• Focus on this & this is the same picture but with colors
• In the first video I spoke about interior spaces & sections
• the second video about movements & Styles
• In the last video I spoke about lighting & fixtures and how they work within interior spaces
• You will find them in the “I” section above here
• Watch them if you haven’t yet because they present the fundamentals for designers & students
And in this episode will continue speaking about color
No doubt colors are the personality of shapes we sight every day
It’s the ink of shapes that make it easy on memory to recover & memorize
Which is the purpose that distinguishes professional from hobbyist
It can be considered as bishops of art wars [if we may say]
It can define one object from another
This area sucks colors look from shapes
They became unite once they entered that area
And acted like one object
It’s the effect of Brightness / Value on colors
colors also can define shapes without the need for lines or other definers
It also has a huge effect on our psyche
Can transform us from being relaxed to becoming active or aggressive
And from being happy to becoming sad
Interior design depends entirely on phycology of space user
So, dealing with colors in interior spaces considered the most important aspect
And give me the intro!
When we generally speak about color in art
The topic automatically divided into two main aspects (color theory)
Which is the rules of brightness, Contrast, Harmony, Hue, Saturation
We can study these rules we can be studied individually [easy find topics]
I already spoke about it on my second channel 2wimz you will find in the “I”
I discuss the theory of color in detail
But today we will discuss the use of colors in interior spaces
How to make it a point of power not weakness
And make use of its tool to work for our spaces mentioned in the first video
you will find it in the "i"
speaking about the color divided into 2 axises
1) color extraction
2) psychology of color
Before we start extracting
we must say the designer has to do research on previous designs before starting his design process
it's nothing shameful, the more visual memory you have the more professional you become
as the saying "reinvent the wheel, cover old ground"
know that all designers around the world have their source of inspiration
might be someone they follow
someplace
magazine they read
a website they visit
an application on mobile phone
as Pinterest
and Flipboard
and magazines that hold a lot of data behind their pages
can be a reference for the designer at any time he wants
helps him to define textures materials and colors for sure because of its fine finish
the source of info and visual feed is available everywhere
don't be shy look and search, steal something from here, something from there
and build the personality you are aiming for in the career
it's not shameful
the way we choose and pick is different from one another
and it's not possible to come across someone else's design or artwork
before we get deep into technical details
let me speak about famous color systems that help designers
to save and transfer color between himself and clients or anybody who is in the field of mixing and matching
Pantone is one of these systems
it is a book of colors that contains more than 2000 color spots
universally approved with its numbers, shades, and fixed mixing ratios
which allows the designer to mean a specific color and transfer it to the concerned person
let's say I used Pantone 3115c in my design and wanted to share it with the client
he will be able to mix and match the color without a reference using only the color book he got 100% perfect
because he has the mixing ratios and in this case
Process blue 17.20
green 7.8
Transparent white 75.00
big companies use this method to fix their colors like Mcdonalds, Pepsi, and coca-cola
its part of a big process called "Branding" we will speak about in upcoming episodes
designer ability to extract the color from pictures is an important skill to obtain
for him to decide what colors can math the idea coming in his mind and render it in a good way
these are some examples of well-extracted colors from pictures
in a layout that serves harmony and visual delight
the second axis is color psychology
it's very important to define the general atmosphere of the designed space
am I looking to calm, active, working or activate an area in the brain like focus and as so
because colors control our mood
Red: Color for power and joy
Orange: for appetizing
Yellow: for warmth and happiness
Green: for nature and freshness
Blue: for peace and place loyalty
Pink: Passion & Beauty
Purple & Moov: Royalty & Luxury
Brown: Basic & trustworthy
Black: Formal & Dramatic
White: Pure & honesty
If we used these colors in the interior we need not mix them together
use just one color & shades
because mixing these colors gives bad result in my opinion
the fix in this situation is to add some neutral or natural colors as I call them
Which are the depigmented colors [low-saturated] and has no names to call
except when we link them with natural material
^^^ like ^^^
They don't fight each other and that what characterize these colors
So the process here is to choose one hue with harmonic natural colors as close to each other as possible
also, there is something with the color called "tone"
we find it in the monochromatic designs
the higher tone the closer to black
if we almost close our eyes
we will find > colors with high tones is the most appearing colors
So needs to be placed the focal points of the design
and avoid placing it in all areas
Dark colors can increase the feel of narrow and small space
Light colors on the other hand expand the feel of wide space
Warm colors (appear on the right half of hue weel) increases the feel of warm light and spirit
Cool colors (appear on the left half of hue weel) increases the feel of cold stagnation and tranquility
A survey made by Jotun paints
The top-selling colors of all time at the stores were
If you notice all mentioned colors are beiges
as we spoke before client needs are one of the fundamental effects to design and its general shape
here we must say some spaces requires us to use
quiet colors blues & greens for family crowded spaces
for the purpose of calming down
dramatic colors for couples areas reds & royals
neutral colors for bathrooms to serve the feel of cleanliness
bedrooms neutrals also with different values and tones for settle down and relax
entrances, exits, and hallways strong hue colors to enhance movement and no stasis
Time using the space affect our choice of color for space
day-used spaces cool colors to balance the warmth of sunlight
night-used spaces warm colors to balance low temperatures of night time
A study made on two people put in two typical rooms but with different light color
one lit with red, and one with blue
the person in the red room started to sweat after 5 mins of stay
Unlike the second person who felt cold and tried to cover himself with an available blanket
Budget isn't a factor when we decide the color
Because all colors have the same price unlike old days
the red color wasn't cheap
because the only natural resource is the crimson insect
but nowadays there are a lot of cheap alternatives
keep in mind: eyes feel comfy looking at natural colors
so natural and neutrals that surround us
like street houses walls trees branches color of wood
these colors our eyes feel comfy looking at doesn't make us feel nervous or act in a certain way
good to overcome high hue colors in the space
that was our topic for today
I hope you have benefited
I am Mohammad MUGHRABI, see you later and peace
